The M50 toll is barrier-free: cameras record vehicles between Junction 6 (N3 Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (N4 Lucan). There is no booth where a driver can stop and pay cash. If a vehicle crosses this section without an account or tag arrangement that pays automatically, the driver must arrange payment afterwards.
2026 rates for a motor car
| Payment type | Toll |
|---|---|
| Electronic tag | €2.60 |
| Video account | €3.20 |
| Unregistered payment | €3.80 |
An unregistered user must pay by 8pm on the day after travelling. Payment can be made through eFlow, by phone or at a Payzone outlet. If you use the M50 regularly, compare a tag or video account with pay-as-you-go: the lower toll can matter over repeated trips, but check any account fees and terms before choosing.
This is different from a conventional toll plaza. On the M50, missing the gantry does not mean the road was free; there is no physical barrier to prompt payment. Keep the date and registration number if you need to check a journey. When using a rental, borrowed or recently purchased car, clarify who is responsible for the toll and whether an account is attached to the registration.
The rates above are the published 2026 car rates and should be rechecked before travel because toll prices can change. Do not assume that the same price applies to vans or heavier goods vehicles; TII lists separate vehicle classes. For other Irish toll roads and their different payment arrangements, see Irish Toll Roads: M50 and Barrier Tolls.
