Does TAMS 3 Pay for a Complete Tractor?

Searching for a “TAMS grant for a tractor” can mean two different things: help to buy a complete tractor, or support for a specific tractor-related investment. TAMS 3 funds only items that meet the current scheme list and conditions; do not assume that a new or used tractor itself qualifies because a related implement appears on a list. Confirm the exact item and scheme with the Department or an agricultural adviser before ordering.

What the 2026 PTO-Cover Measure Contributes

One current measure is narrower and easier to identify. Ireland’s National Farm Safety Measure 2026 supports eligible PTO shaft covers, not the purchase of a whole tractor. The Department offers 60% of eligible cost, capped at €100 per cover, for up to four covers. If four covers each have the full €100 eligible cost, the maximum calculated contribution is €240; any amount above the cap per cover is not subsidised under that calculation.

Check Eligibility, Deadline and Product Standard

Eligibility and timing matter. Applicants must have submitted a 2026 BISS application and must submit an Expression of Interest before buying the covers. As of 1 October 2026, the Department lists 6 November 2026 as both the closing date for Expressions of Interest and the deadline for payment claims. Check the official measure page and its terms before acting, as funding conditions and dates can change. The covers must meet EN 12965:2019, display the CE mark, and invoices must identify the required standard.

This support is separate from the broader TAMS 3 farm-machinery schemes; the Department’s TAMS 3 collection links the eligible-item list and scheme documents. For the safety reason behind the investment, see our PTO shaft-cover and tractor safety guide. Do not buy first and expect a grant to be approved later.
